Mohammed Naindhram Veettil has dedicated 16 years to Manitowoc as a service support technician. Throughout this time, he has helped customers reach peak performance for their machines at many locations across Dubai, the wider Middle East, and Africa.

He has broad experience as a skilled welder, giving him a comprehensive understanding of all aspects related to servicing. In a conversation with Looking Up, Veettil shares details of his multifaceted role and his hobbies outside the workplace.

Looking Up: Can you describe one of the most memorable service support jobs you have been involved with at Manitowoc?

Veettil: One involved a Grove GMK6300L all-terrain crane; I had to repair its superstructure due to welding issues it endured while on-site at an airport project in Kuwait. The positioning of the welding issues posed significant challenges, as they extended across the structure and were interconnected with the main boom cylinder. It wasn’t an easy job and took a long time, but it was a huge success! The customer was able to resume crane operations in no time.

LU: How does Manitowoc’s commitment to innovative design make your job easier?

Veettil: There is easy access to technical data and online assistance, which speeds up my repair processes. Our clients can additionally use the company’s latest innovation systems and applications, such as Grove CONNECT, to self-assist and troubleshoot any challenges. This feature simplifies my workload, minimizing the number of service claims and requests, and allowing me to focus on more complex repairs.

LU: What’s the best part about being a Manitowoc service support technician?

Veettil: I love being able to travel and assist customers all over the world. It’s an eye-opening experience. I’m also grateful for Manitowoc’s welcoming work environment, along with the company’s ongoing training programs for staff. Manitowoc prioritizes its team members and ensures we possess top-notch expertise and skills.

LU: What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Do you have any hobbies?

Veettil: If I’m not off fixing a customer’s crane, I enjoy watching movies, cooking, and, of course, traveling — but luckily, traveling is a perk of the job!
